TrueLight Mental Health was born from lived experience.
Years ago, after a serious car accident and brain injury, my life changed in ways I never expected. I struggled with chronic pain, addiction, and my mental health. There were times when I felt lost and believed that things would never get better. What helped me find my way forward wasn't that life suddenly became easy. It was finding people who listened, cared, and never gave up on me. Through counselling, support programs, and genuine human connection, I slowly began to heal.
As I recovered, I realized that many young people are still fighting those same battles alone. Some cannot afford counselling, some are waiting for support, and others simply don't believe that recovery is possible. I understand that feeling because I lived it. During my own journey, I made a promise to myself that if I ever found my way forward, I would help create that same opportunity for someone else.
As my life began to change, I chose to pursue an education and career dedicated to helping others. Through volunteering and working within my community, I met many people facing not only financial hardship but also loneliness, trauma, addiction, and mental health challenges. Those experiences reinforced what I had already learned through my own journey: too many people are struggling without accessible support.
Along the way, I was fortunate to meet other compassionate, like-minded people who shared the belief that everyone deserves to feel heard, accepted, and supported without judgment. Together, we are building TrueLight Mental Health, a community founded on hope, compassion, and the belief that healing is possible.
If you're reading this and you're struggling, I want you to know something that I once needed to hear myself:
You are not alone. Recovery is possible. There is hope, even if you can't see it today.
And if you're someone looking to support this mission, know that your kindness can help create that hope for someone else.
